About

Because your Reddit history shouldn't stick around forever.

purgg. is a privacy-first web application that removes your Reddit posts and comments quickly and efficiently. Whether you're looking for a fresh start or just want to tidy up, purgg. offers a straightforward solution with minimal data collection.

Core Principles

Privacy-Focused

Your Reddit data never leaves the browser except for the essential authentication process. We don't store your personal information on our servers.

Simplicity

Clear your Reddit history in just a few clicks. No complicated setup or advanced settings required.

Transparency

We offer multiple deletion options—choose to wipe out everything or selectively remove posts/comments.

How It Works

After you sign in with Reddit, purgg. retrieves an access token so we can interface with Reddit's API on your behalf. From there, everything (like fetching posts, comments, and sending deletion requests) happens directly within your browser. Our servers do not keep logs of your data.

Rate Limits

Reddit enforces rate limits on how many actions can be performed per minute. purgg. automatically respects these limits to avoid potential account issues.

Storage

We keep nothing. The only data that leaves your browser is temporary data to authenticate your Reddit session.

Different Delete Options

You can remove everything or selectively choose which posts/comments to keep. We even allow you to lock certain posts/comments from being deleted. If you want a fully local approach, you can check out our CLI tool: reddit-cleaner-cli.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different options to delete posts/comments?

purgg. offers two main approaches:

  • Delete everything with one click.
  • Delete all items on the current page by default, but you can lock items you don't wish to delete.
  • Delete everything (except items you've locked) for a quick cleanup.

What data does purgg. store on its servers?

None. We do not store your Reddit data or personal information. All interactions happen through your browser with our server only handling necessary proxy requests, so your data is never persisted.

How long does it take to remove posts/comments?

Deletion times can vary based on Reddit's rate limits and how much content you're removing. purgg. will automate the process and let you know if any limits are hit along the way.

Can I selectively delete some posts but keep others?

Absolutely. You can lock the posts/comments you want to keep, and purgg. will skip them while deleting the rest.

Is purgg. open source?

No, the current web app is not open source. If you want a fully local, open-source alternative, you can use the CLI tool from our GitHub: reddit-cleaner-cli.
